PUPIL STABBED DEAD AT SCHOOL!

A DARK cloud hangs over their school after a matric pupil was stabbed to death – allegedly by his schoolmates.

Despite their fear, pupils and teachers at Nzuza High School in Hemfana Village, Gingindlovu, northern KZN, are trying to continue at school.

The deadly incident happened on Monday, when Mphiliseni Gumede (18) was killed following an argument between him and three other pupils.

The stabbing was allegedly triggered by the manner in which the grade 12 victim spoke to the suspects.

A grade 8 pupil (15) said they were scared now.

“We come to school but we don’t feel safe. We don’t know how many other pupils are carrying dangerous weapons.”

A grade 12 pupil added: “We are about to write our mid-term exams. so staying at home won’t help us.”

Induna Mkhulekeleni Ngidi expressed his outrage over kids taking weapons to school.

“I don’t know what’s got into the heads of our kids! They have become evil and engage in things that will only give them a bad name.

“I condemn this in the strongest terms,” said Ngidi.

SGB member Dorica Khoza said police visited the school to check whether the situation was still calm.

KZN Education Department spokesman Muzi Mahlambi said this year alone, more than five pupils had died at the hands of their schoolmates.

“The department tries to protect pupils from people outside but it hits us under the belt when it’s pupils who are killing one another,” said Mahlambi.

Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said: “Two suspects aged 17 and 20 were arrested for murder.

“They are due to appear in Mtunzini Magistrates Court soon.”
